Transitioning to a Culture of Sustainability

The College’s own sustainability framework establishes sustainability in its broadest, most holistic sense as a mindset and ethical guideline for balance and well-being, embracing the concept of reciprocity. Sustainability is embedded across all aspects of the College, including our education model (pedagogical focus, curriculum, programs, and projects), promoting learning from nature, and new pedagogies for the future. It is also towards this principle that the college is currently purposefully building a new campus that contests climate change through sustainable construction practices and the restoration and conservation of a nature reserve within its property.

The design of this sustainability framework applies processes of research, listening, participation, and collaboration and is fueled by the question: How do we create a culture of sustainability at UWC Costa Rica?
