UWC Costa Rica is diverse by design. There are multiple application routes for those seeking a scholarship, promoting economic and socio-cultural diversity within the student community. Each application route requires different steps towards a successful application, and different periods during each year, so it is important to stay up to date!

Global Selection Programme (GSP)
The UWC Global Selection Programme (GSP) is the application route to enter UWC via UWC International’s application forms, choosing UWC Costa Rica as their preferred option within the movement, and can cover the full tuition costs. This route is meant for students who are committed to UWC Costa Rica’s values, willing to embark on the adventure of their lives.
The GSP Application Route is currently open for the 2026-2028 academic period.
National Committees (NCs)
Representing UWC in over 155 countries and territories, the National Committees are independent, volunteer-based organizations that provide financial aid and support to students during the application process. This route is for students seeking to study at UWC Costa Rica with a scholarship.
This route is subject to each NC’s deadlines and is completely independent from UWC Costa Rica, so make sure to find the correct information from your NC!

Joining UWC Costa Rica means achieving the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in an environment designed to be proactive, independent, and curious about the natural wonders of Costa Rica, its local communities, and sustainable practices.
Learn from Each Other in an International Setting
Living in an international boarding high school means getting to know new people, languages, foods, and cultures. Being able to adapt, be open-minded, learn from shared experiences, and adapt to the local context by learning and communicating in Spanish (mostly as a secondary language).
Learn for a Lifetime and Becoming a Change-Maker
Become immersed in a community aligned with the values of Empathy, Reciprocity, and Accountability, with an interest in continuing to learn and generate positive social impact, even after the two-year experience at UWC Costa Rica.
