Planning your visit
Initial Coordination
To ensure a smooth welcome, all visits must be coordinated in advance following these steps:
- Notify the Alum Coordinator: email the Engagement Coordinator as soon as possible.
- Lead Time: at least 1 week’s notice to communicate with you before your arrival.
- Schedule: Visits are available Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- Blackout Periods: During IB exams (April 27th to May 20th), alums are not allowed on campus.
Meals & Lodging
- On-Campus Meals: We are happy to cover the cost of your meals during your visit. For any guests joining you, meals cost $5 each and must be paid for in advance. You must arrange this with the Engagement Coordinator at least one week in advance.
- Lodging: At our Santa Ana Campus, we do not offer lodging. However, we have special discounted rates at the following hotels. – hiper link
Safety & Community Guidelines
All visiting alums must agree to maintain the safety and well-being of the current student body:
- Agreements: You are required to read, sign, and follow the Alum Visitor Code of Conduct.
- Restricted Areas: Alums are never allowed in student bedrooms. Access to the residence’s common areas is only permitted under supervision.
- Campus Flow: Visits must not interfere with the College’s regular schedule or activities.
- Reporting: If any community member feels uncomfortable or witnesses a breach of conduct, they are instructed to report it to the Engagement Coordinator.
Volunteering
- Coordination: If you are visiting to volunteer, the Engagement Coordinator will help manage the logistics of your visit.
- Supervision: The specific details and logistics of your volunteering project remain the responsibility of your project supervisor.

AlumNights is a student-led initiative that invites alums from the UWC Global Alum Network to connect and share peer-to-peer knowledge, experiences, and stories in an engaging setting.

Important Information & Dates
- All visits must be coordinated at least two weeks in advance, with prior notice if any family or friends will join the visit.
- UWC Costa Rica is not able to accommodate overnight campus visits.
- Due to the high logistical demands of certain activities on campus, visits will be paused during the following dates:
- Orientation — 3 weeks in August.
- Semesters 1 and 3 exams — 2 weeks in November.
- IB Exams— April 27 to May 21 (no visits will be approved on these days).
- Graduation Celebrations — May 20 and May 21.
- Student departure days — May 22 (no visits will be approved on these days).
