A Learning Adventure Beyond the Classroom
Last week, UWC Costa Rica embarked on its inaugural Experiential Day, a dynamic initiative designed to bring learning to life beyond the traditional classroom setting.
Students across various disciplines engaged in workshops, collaborative learning sessions, and field trips, embracing the essence of experiential education.
Experiential Learning Experiences
Our Chemistry students and dedicated CAS Waste Management team delved into the world of sustainable solutions at Pedregal, witnessing the Resin8 process transform non-recyclable plastics into valuable building materials. This eye-opening experience underscored the power of innovation in addressing environmental challenges and inspired our students to become agents of positive change.
Meanwhile, the Spanish Language and Literature students were captivated by the renowned Costa Rican artist, composer, and activist Maf E Tulá. Through a dynamic workshop, Maf E Tulá encouraged students to channel their creativity into music and art, fostering a deep exploration of their UWC identity and igniting their passion for social and environmental activism.
Our Mathematics students embarked on an exciting journey to the UCR Cyclotron and Planetarium, where they witnessed firsthand the wonders of science and the vastness of the cosmos. This immersive experience expanded their understanding of mathematical concepts and fueled their curiosity about the universe.
UWC Costa Rica's first Experiential Day exemplified our commitment to cultivating in young people the passion and ability to serve humanity and our planet. By learning from nature and from each other, our students are empowered to become lifelong learners and responsible global citizens, actively contributing to a more sustainable and equitable world.
