Applying to UWC via GSP

Written by: UWC Costa Rica

Applications are about to open,
and potential students must get informed and ready to start the application process. Let's explore how to apply via the Global Selection Programme (GSP) in more detail!
In our last newsletter, we covered both application routes; now, we will explore how to apply via the Global Selection Programme (GSP) in more detail.

The application process starts on August 28, 2024.

A limited number of places are available at UWC Costa Rica when applying via GSP. When that number is reached, applications via this route may close. You will have plenty of time to submit your application. Still, take advantage of this and submit your application as soon as you have all the information ready. You can broaden your chances by selecting up to four different schools. Make sure to prioritize UWC Costa Rica in your choices!

Be confident in yourself!

To thrive at UWC, students must possess self-belief, resilience, and a genuine desire to positively impact the world. The application process is designed to uncover your unique personality. Questions about your reading habits and conflict-resolution skills will help us understand your perspective.

We would also like to encourage you to showcase your interests, hobbies, and passions. Share your involvement in cultural activities, sports, youth associations, community projects, or other meaningful endeavors. Remember, it's not just about listing your activities but also explaining why they are essential to you.

Here's a nice piece by UWC about how to shine though your hobbies and interests in your application form.

Get informed about fees and scholarships.

The cost of attending UWC Costa Rica for the two years of the IB is around $81,000 to $90,000, excluding air travel and pocket money. Students applying via GSP are expected to cover the total tuition cost. Keep this in mind before starting your application. You should also review other school and college costs, depending on whether you add more options to your application.
If you need partial or full scholarship or financial assistance, you should seek to apply via a National Committee.

Be ready to obtain any additional information.

The application form may ask for academic references, non-academic references, school reports, or an explanation of your school's grading system as part of your UWC application. The specific requirements will vary depending on your chosen application route. Please carefully review the entire application form to find the necessary supporting documents.

Because obtaining these materials often involves the assistance of others, we suggest checking the application form as soon as it is available and starting to seek these documents.
