Impact Report Showcase | The launch of "We Are United" celebrated community, commitment, and a shared vision for a sustainable future.
On March 14th, we embarked on a journey of unity and purpose with the launch of our campaign, "We Are United." The event celebrated community, commitment, and a shared vision for a sustainable future. Set against the backdrop of Casa Solera, a historic landmark in Costa Rica, the evening was filled with captivating performances by students, heartfelt reminiscences from alumni, and the warmth of old and new friends of UWC Costa Rica.

The launch of the "We Are United" campaign signifies more than just a fundraising effort; it is a call to action for both the public and private sectors to come together in pursuit of a more sustainable and equitable future for generations to come. Through this campaign, we aim to expand our scholarship programs, increase access to our innovative educational model, and set a new standard in sustainable construction, thereby contributing to global efforts to combat climate change.

The "We Are United" Comprehensive Campaign presents a unique opportunity to redefine our funding strategy within the UWC Movement. This initiative engages alums, donors, partners, and organizations worldwide eager to participate in and contribute to the advantages and benefits of having a UWC College in Costa Rica.

The Comprehensive Campaign’s goal is $65 million, of which we have already achieved 82%. These resources will be allocated towards constructing our new campus and a state-of-the-art sustainability and innovation center and establishing a scholarship endowment and program to increase student participation at UWC Costa Rica. Additionally, we will dedicate a segment of these funds to a comprehensive 93-acre (39 hectares) for conservation and educational purposes.

In pursuit of these objectives, we have delineated the following main priorities:

United for Education:

  • Expanding the student population by 38%.
  • Growing our scholarship programs by 40%.
  • Ensuring 15% of students hail from Costa Rica, fostering local talent and diversity.
  • Annually, bring together more than 2,000 educators and youngsters for collaboration through innovative educational experiences.
  • A hub for the UWC Global Community towards achieving the UWC Mission.

United in Peace:

  • A black-box theater with a capacity of 350 people.
  • An indoor multipurpose-covered court, a public plaza
  • A public plaza to enhance the economic activities of entrepreneurs.
  • 6 km of in-forest trails to enhance experiential learning in nature.
  • A Global Impact Academy & Outreach Center.

United with Costa Rica:

  • Increasing our new campus student capacity up to 288 students.
  • Amplifying UWC Costa Rica’s dynamic, intentionally diverse learning environment.
  • Develop cross-discipline programs to nurture leadership skills that empower youth and adults.

United with Nature:

  • Conserving 93-acre (39 hectares) of our new campus property for conservation purposes.
  • Offsetting approximately 20,000 tons of CO2 per year.

By uniting in our commitment to education, peace, sustainability, and nature, we can create a brighter, more inclusive future for all. Together, we are building structures and laying the foundation for a better world—one united in its resolve to tackle today's and tomorrow's challenges.

Join us in our journey towards a more sustainable future. Together, We Are United.
