Last week, UWC Costa Rica had the distinct honor of welcoming Shelby Davis and Gale Davis, long-time supporters of all UWC International colleges, along with Jacob Mnookin, Director of Partnerships & Innovation at the Davis UWC Scholars Program, to our campus in Santa Ana and the site of our future campus in San Isidro, Heredia. Their visit marked a milestone in our journey, offering inspiration and reaffirming the profound impact of partnerships in advancing educational opportunities.

Highlighting the Power of Access to Education

The Davis UWC Scholars Program is a transformative initiative that expands access to higher education for thousands of UWC graduates worldwide. During the visit, UWC Costa Rica hosted an event bringing together current and former Davis UWC Scholars, creating a vibrant space to reflect on the diverse pathways alum have pursued thanks to their access to educational opportunities in the United States and beyond.

This gathering was a testament to UWC Costa Rica’s mission: “To cultivate in young people the passion and ability to serve humanity and our planet—learning from nature and from each other for a lifetime.” Our alums stories showcased the global ripple effect of this mission, emphasizing how empathy, reciprocity, and accountability—key values of UWC Costa Rica—shape futures and empower positive change.

A Glimpse Into the Future: Our New Campus in San Isidro, Heredia

The visit concluded with an exciting tour of the site for UWC Costa Rica’s future campus in San Isidro, Heredia. This state-of-the-art space will reflect our deep commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community-driven learning. Standing on the land where our vision will take shape, our guests joined us in imagining a future where even more young leaders are nurtured to serve humanity and the planet.

As Shelby Davis said during the visit, “’Till next time.” These words capture the enduring partnership and shared vision between UWC Costa Rica and the Davis UWC Scholars Program. We are profoundly grateful for their continued support and look forward to many more collaborative milestones.

Together, let’s continue building a world where education inspires service, sustainability, and shared humanity.
