Strengthening Community Bonds: UWC Costa Rica’s Visit to Santa Cecilia
Written by: UWC Costa Rica
On Saturday, November 9th, UWC Costa Rica accompanied a group of students and members of the Communications and Sustainability teams to the community hall in Santa Cecilia, San Isidro de Heredia.
This memorable event brought together nearly 100 participants, including local parents, children, community association members, municipal representatives, and UWC Costa Rica staff and students. It was a unique occasion where students shared their culture and knowledge with the local community while many also seized the opportunity to practice and improve their Spanish.
This gathering marked a significant milestone in UWC Costa Rica’s integration journey into the surrounding community. The connection between the students and the residents of San Isidro was tangible, and the warmth and acceptance felt mutual. The community welcomed UWC Costa Rica with open arms, and the students, in turn, embraced the experience with enthusiasm and dedication, fostering meaningful cultural exchange.
The beautiful weather added to the joy of the visit, creating an even more pleasant atmosphere for the day. The group enjoyed a shared lunch in a relaxed and friendly setting, further strengthening the bonds between the students and the community before returning to Santa Ana in the afternoon.
This enriching experience reminded the UWC Costa Rica community of the importance of creating connections that transcend cultural and linguistic barriers. It also underscored UWC Costa Rica’s commitment to building lasting relationships with the communities around us. Events like these reflect our mission to nurture a sense of global citizenship, collaboration, and mutual respect in all we do.
As we build bridges between UWC Costa Rica and the broader community, we look forward to more opportunities to connect, share, and grow. Stay tuned for updates on our initiatives, and join us in celebrating the power of unity and cultural exchange.
