UWC Costa Rica welcomes more than 100 students from all over the world each year to experience our unique experiential learning model, heavily inspired by the concept of Sustainability, and following our mission of cultivating in young people the passion and ability to serve humanity and our planet—learning from nature and from each other for a lifetime.

Understanding Both Application Routes

As a potential student, you (or your child) can apply to our college via the Global Selection Programme (GSP) or a National Committee. You can only apply through one route every academic year, and each route has its conditions and deadlines. Here’s a brief introduction to both:

Global Selection Programme (GSP)

This is also referred to as “applying directly to UWC.” We are part of an international movement of schools and colleges, and through this route, you can apply to any college in the movement, including ours! This route is meant for prospective students who want to partake in their application process independently and are willing to pay the full tuition.

Applications via GSP open on August 28, 2024.

National Committees (NCs)

Most students in their years at UWC are selected through one of UWC’s National Committees. Representing UWC in over 155 countries and territories, they offer accompaniment in the application process and often provide scholarships to the applicants.

This route is subject to each NC’s deadlines, so find the correct information from your NC.

Getting Ready to Apply

All applications are received through UWC’s Application Portal. You will start your application with an Eligibility Profile, ensuring you are the right fit for the UWC experience. If you are still not in the age group for applications (16 to 19 years old), don’t worry! You can restart your application process next year or take advantage of the short courses and camps our Outreach & Innovation team provides.

Remember to check your deadlines depending on your application route!

We recommend you search for your National Committee on social media for more resources on your application process, especially for those applying via NCs. You should also follow us on social media for updates on our College!
