UWC Costa Rica is thrilled to announce the successful launch of our AlumNights series, with the first event taking place on Monday, September 23, featuring Sonia Wargacka MUWCI '14.
Special Guest: Sonia Wargacka MUWCI '14
Sonia Wargacka shared her remarkable journey from graduating at UWC Mahindra to founding her own global video production company focused on social impact. After taking a gap year post-UWC, Sonia attended film school and became a high-end TV Production Coordinator, with credits on well-known productions such as His Dark Materials, Sex Education, and Wolf Hall.
Her session, titled “Adapt, Discover: How to Travel the World Making Films and Pave Your Own Way to Creative Industries,” gave our students invaluable insight into creative careers, demonstrating how the UWC ethos of adaptability and lifelong learning has shaped her career.
The AlumNights series is a direct reflection of UWC Costa Rica’s belief in the power of learning for a lifetime, a core component of our mission. This initiative aims to connect students with alums, not just from UWC Costa Rica but from the global UWC network, showcasing how the principles of service and learning continue to inspire alums long after graduation. Sonia’s talk was especially impactful for students who are unsure about pursuing careers in the arts or creative industries, providing them with a firsthand understanding of the possibilities that exist in these fields.
